Short answer: Midjourney declines a card most often because the issuing bank or the payment processor refuses a foreign online charge, the billing address does not match what the card issuer has on file, or the balance does not cover the plan plus tax and the authorization hold. Stop after two failed attempts, fix the address and balance, and retry once. If your local card simply does not work abroad, a prepaid virtual card bought with USDT or USDC, such as Pink Card from pinkcard.cc, can be added to your own Midjourney account.
Written by the Pink Card team (pinkcard.cc). Midjourney prices are list prices as of October 2026 (check midjourney.com for the current numbers); Pink Card fees are those shown on the purchase page on 2026-10-10.
What Midjourney charges
- Basic: $10 per month (about $8/month billed yearly).
- Standard: $30 per month (about $24/month billed yearly), with unlimited Relax mode.
- Pro: $60 per month (about $48/month billed yearly), adds Stealth mode and more concurrent jobs.
- Mega: $120 per month (about $96/month billed yearly).
- There is no regular free trial: a new account must subscribe before it can generate images.
- VAT or sales tax for your billing region may be added on top, and upgrading mid-cycle charges a prorated difference, so the first charge often differs from the list price.
- A yearly plan is charged in one payment for the whole year, so the card must cover 12 months at once.
Why Midjourney declines a card
- Issuing country and bank rules. Many banks block or flag online charges from overseas merchants, and cards from some issuing countries are not accepted by the processor at all. The balance is irrelevant here; the decline happens before any money moves.
- Billing address check (AVS). The processor compares the address and postal code you type with the address the issuer has for the card. A missing postal code, a made-up address, or an address in a different country from the card is a common reason for a silent decline.
- Prepaid card rules. Some merchants or issuers treat prepaid cards differently from bank credit cards. Most of the time a prepaid card works for Midjourney, but an individual decline can still happen, especially right after several failed attempts.
- Not enough balance for the authorization hold. The checkout may place a temporary hold before the real charge, and tax is added on top of the list price. A card loaded with exactly $10 for the $10 plan will often fail.
- 3D Secure or bank verification not completed. If your bank asks for a code or app confirmation and the window closes, the payment is declined.
- Too many retries in a short time. After several declines in a row, the processor’s risk system can block the card for hours, even after you correct the details.
- Your network location changes during checkout, or is far from the billing country. Keep one stable connection for the whole payment.
Fix it in this order
- Stop clicking Pay. Read the exact message: "card declined", "insufficient funds" and "authentication required" have different fixes.
- Check the balance covers the plan price plus about 20% for tax and the hold.
- Enter the billing address exactly as the card issuer has it, including the postal code. For a prepaid virtual card, use the billing address that comes with the card.
- Keep your network location stable and consistent with the billing country while you pay.
- Clear the browser cache or use another browser, then submit one more time only.
- Still declined? Wait several hours or switch to a different card. Do not keep retrying the same card.
Pay Midjourney with a prepaid virtual card (USDT or USDC)
- Open pinkcard.cc/en and choose an amount: presets $110, $220, $500, $1000, or a custom amount from $100.
- Pay with USDT on BEP-20 (shown as BSC or BNB Smart Chain on most exchanges; network fee usually under $1) or ERC-20, or with USDC on ERC-20. Send exactly the amount shown, on exactly the network you picked.
- Enter your email twice. No account and no sign-up are needed.
- The card number, expiry, CVV and billing address arrive by email about 1–2 minutes after the payment confirms (check spam).
- On midjourney.com, sign in, open Manage Subscription (Purchase Plans), choose a plan and enter the card with the billing address from the email.
- Before the next renewal, top up the same card. The number does not change, so the subscription keeps renewing without re-adding the card.
How much to load (worked examples)
- Basic monthly: $10 × 1.2 (tax headroom) + $1 per transaction + $2.50 monthly card fee ≈ $15.50 per month, so the $110 preset covers about 7 months.
- Standard monthly: $30 × 1.2 + $1 + $2.50 ≈ $39.50 per month, so $110 covers about 2 months and $220 about 5 months.
- Basic yearly: one charge of about $96 plus tax. Load a custom amount of at least $120 so the single yearly charge goes through.
- Paying for a $110 card: ($110 + $10) × 1.03 = $123.60 in USDT or USDC.
Pink Card fees (as of 2026-10-10)
- Card issuance: $10 one-time, plus a 3% service fee on (card amount + $10).
- From the card balance after activation: $1 per transaction and $2.50 per month.
- Failed authorizations are charged $1 too (at most 3 failed charges per card per month), so cancel any subscription you no longer use instead of letting it retry on an empty card.
- Top-up of the same card: $5 + 5%. Full fee table: pinkcard.cc/en/fees.
