Cloudflare Payment Failed? Fix Card Declined on Workers Paid, Pro Plans and Domain Renewals, and Pay Cloudflare with a Prepaid Virtual Card (USDT / USDC) — 2026

Cloudflare payment failed or card declined? Why Workers Paid, Pro plan, Registrar domain and usage invoices get refused (foreign USD charges, billing address, 3D Secure, balance below the invoice, several charges at once, renewals on a closed card), what happens after a failed renewal (5 retries in 5 days, then downgrade to Free), a fix order, and how to pay Cloudflare from USDT or USDC with a prepaid virtual card. Includes real Cloudflare charge data from our own cards. Updated October 2026.

Short answer: Cloudflare bills paid products (Workers Paid, Pro and Business plans, Registrar domains, and usage-based products such as R2) in USD to a credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Stripe Link; on a card statement it shows up as "CLOUDFLARE SAN FRANCISCO". A Cloudflare payment usually fails because the issuing bank refuses a foreign USD charge, the billing address does not match, 3D Secure was not completed, or the balance is lower than the invoice. When a renewal fails, Cloudflare retries it 5 times over 5 days and then downgrades the paid plan to Free. Fix the card once, then retry from Billing a single time. If your local card does not work abroad, a prepaid virtual card bought with USDT or USDC, such as Pink Card from pinkcard.cc, can be added in the Cloudflare dashboard.

Written by the Pink Card team (pinkcard.cc). Cloudflare prices change and some regions add tax, so the Billing page and invoice are the only reliable source for the amount due. Our charge data comes from our own card transaction records, summarised without any customer details. Pink Card fees are those shown on the purchase page on 2026-10-15. Pink Card is not affiliated with Cloudflare.

What Cloudflare charges

  • Workers Paid: a small monthly minimum that includes a request and CPU-time allowance, with usage above it billed on top. This is the plan most solo developers pay for.
  • Pro and Business plans are billed per website (zone), monthly or annually; annual billing is cheaper per month.
  • Registrar: domains are sold at the registry’s cost with no markup, and renewals cost the same as registration. A .com is roughly $10–11 a year, but registry prices move.
  • Usage-based products (R2, Images, Stream and others) are invoiced after the period, so the amount can be higher than you expect.
  • Different products can be billed as separate charges, so one month can mean several charges to the same card.
  • Check cloudflare.com/plans and each product’s pricing page for current prices; the total on the invoice is what the card is charged.

Why Cloudflare declines a card

  1. The issuing bank refuses the charge. Many local cards block foreign online USD payments, and the dashboard only shows a generic failure.
  2. The billing address, country or postal code does not match what the issuer has on file.
  3. 3D Secure was not completed. If the verification pop-up is blocked or times out, the payment counts as failed.
  4. The balance is lower than the invoice. An annual Pro plan, a multi-year domain registration or a usage invoice can be much larger than a monthly plan.
  5. Several charges at once. Buying a few products in a row, or clicking retry again and again, can make the issuer or the payment processor block the card for a while.
  6. Renewals on a closed or empty card. Cloudflare keeps retrying the saved payment method; every retry on a closed card fails.
Cloudflare’s documentation says a failed renewal is retried 5 times over 5 days; if it is still unpaid after that grace period, the paid plan is downgraded to Free (the site stays online, the paid features go). A Registrar domain that cannot be renewed moves towards expiry. With a prepaid card, every automatic retry on an empty card can be another failed-charge fee, so fix the balance the day you get the failure email and retry once yourself.

Fix it in this order

  1. Stop retrying. Open Manage Account → Billing and find which invoice failed: Workers, a website plan, a domain renewal or a usage invoice.
  2. Make sure the card balance covers that invoice, plus about $1 if your card charges per transaction.
  3. Check the card number, expiry, CVV and billing address against what the issuer gave you, and allow the 3D Secure pop-up.
  4. Keep your network exit region stable during checkout and roughly consistent with the billing country.
  5. Retry the invoice once from Billing. If the same card fails two or three times, wait a few hours or use another payment method.
  6. If you no longer need a paid product, cancel it before renewal, and renew or transfer domains before you stop using the card.

Does a prepaid virtual card work on Cloudflare? Our own data

We checked "CLOUDFLARE SAN FRANCISCO" charges on our own cards. Between May and September 2026, 5 Pink Cards held by 5 customers were used with Cloudflare. There were 7 successful authorizations: 5 card checks of $0 when the card was added (on 3 cards), and 2 paid charges of $8.20 (May) and $4.18 (September) on two different cards. There was 1 decline, a $5.30 charge in June on a fifth card, recorded only as "Blocked" with no further reason. The sample is small, so we cannot promise every card or every charge will pass; start with one product and watch the first renewal.

Pay Cloudflare with a prepaid virtual card (USDT or USDC)

  1. Open pinkcard.cc/en and choose an amount: presets start at $110 ($110, $220, $500, $1000), or enter a custom amount from $100.
  2. Pay with USDT on BEP-20 (shown as BSC or BNB Smart Chain on most exchanges; network fee usually under $1) or ERC-20, or with USDC on ERC-20. Send exactly the amount shown, on exactly the network you picked.
  3. Enter your email twice. No account and no sign-up are needed.
  4. The card number, expiry, CVV and billing address arrive by email about 1–2 minutes after the payment confirms (check spam).
  5. In the Cloudflare dashboard, go to Manage Account → Billing → Payment info, add the card with the billing address from the email, then upgrade Workers, the website plan or the domain and submit once.
  6. Before each renewal, make sure the balance covers it. Top up the same card when it runs low; the number does not change, so Cloudflare keeps billing it. Top-ups usually reach the card within about 30 minutes of payment.

How much to load (worked examples)

  • Workers Paid at a $5 monthly minimum with no overage: $5 + $1 per transaction + $2.50 monthly card fee = $8.50 a month, so a $110 card covers about 12 months.
  • A Pro plan billed monthly at $25: $25 + $1 + $2.50 = $28.50 a month, about 3 months on a $110 card.
  • Registering or renewing a .com: roughly $10–11 + $1 per transaction.
  • Paying for a $110 card: ($110 + $10) × 1.03 = $123.60. A $220 card: ($220 + $10) × 1.03 = $236.90.
  • Topping up $100 later: $5 + ($100 + $5) × 5% = $10.25 in fees, $110.25 in total.

Pink Card fees (as of 2026-10-15)

  • Card issuance: $10 one-time, plus a 3% service fee on (card amount + $10).
  • From the card balance after activation: $1 per transaction and $2.50 per month. Workers, a website plan and a domain renewal billed separately are separate $1 fees.
  • Failed authorizations are charged $1 too (at most 3 failed charges per card per month), so do not let Cloudflare retry an empty card for days.
  • Top-up of the same card: $5 plus 5% of (top-up amount + $5), usually on the card within about 30 minutes. Full fee table: pinkcard.cc/en/fees.
  • Once the card details are emailed, the order cannot be cancelled, so double-check your email address before paying.
The same card can pay Vercel, OpenRouter, OpenAI or Anthropic API credits and Cursor as long as the balance covers every renewal. Check each service’s supported regions and terms before subscribing.

FAQ

Why does Cloudflare say my payment failed?

Usually the issuing bank refused a foreign USD charge, the billing address does not match, 3D Secure was not completed, or the balance is lower than the invoice. Fix that and retry the invoice once from Billing instead of retrying repeatedly.

What happens if a Cloudflare renewal fails?

Cloudflare retries it 5 times over 5 days. If it is still unpaid after the grace period, the paid plan is downgraded to Free; the site stays online. Domains that are not renewed move towards expiry, so renew them first.

What is the CLOUDFLARE SAN FRANCISCO charge on my card?

It is a Cloudflare invoice: Workers Paid, a website plan, a Registrar domain or a usage-based product. A $0 charge is a card check when the card was added. Billing in the Cloudflare dashboard lists each invoice.

Can I pay Cloudflare with USDT or crypto?

Not directly; Cloudflare takes cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Stripe Link. You can buy a prepaid virtual card with USDT (BEP-20 or ERC-20) or USDC (ERC-20) at pinkcard.cc and add it in Billing.

Does Cloudflare accept prepaid virtual cards?

On our own cards, Cloudflare accepted 7 authorizations on 4 cards between May and September 2026 (5 card checks and 2 paid charges), with 1 decline recorded only as Blocked. It is not guaranteed for every card, so start with one product.
