Vercel Payment Failed? Fix Vercel Card Declined, Overdue Invoices and Paused Deployments, and Pay Vercel Pro with a Prepaid Virtual Card (USDT / USDC) — 2026

Vercel payment failed or card declined? How Vercel bills Pro seats, usage and Marketplace databases such as Neon, why a card is refused (foreign USD charges, card type, billing address, balance below the invoice, repeated retries), what overdue means (no new deployments, all deployments paused after 14 days), a fix order, and how to pay Vercel from USDT or USDC with a prepaid virtual card. Includes real charge data from our own cards. Updated October 2026.

Short answer: Vercel bills only credit and debit cards, in USD, and takes the invoice automatically at the start of each billing cycle. A Vercel payment usually fails because the issuing bank refuses a foreign USD charge, the card type is not accepted (Vercel’s docs say gift cards, prepaid cards and some virtual cards may be refused), the billing address does not match, or the balance is lower than the invoice, which is common when a Marketplace database bill lands on top of the Pro seat. A renewal invoice that stays unpaid for 14 days pauses every deployment on the account, so fix it the same day: top up or add a working card, then pay the open invoice once. If your local card does not work abroad, a prepaid virtual card bought with USDT or USDC, such as Pink Card from pinkcard.cc, can be added in your team’s billing settings.

Written by the Pink Card team (pinkcard.cc). Vercel rules are taken from Vercel’s pricing and billing documentation as of October 2026 and may change; the Billing page in your dashboard shows the real amount due. Pink Card fees are those shown on the purchase page on 2026-10-14. Pink Card is not affiliated with Vercel.

What Vercel charges and when

  • Hobby is free and needs no card. Pro is billed per developer seat; the pricing page lists $20 per month including $20 of usage credit. Pro is monthly only.
  • Each billing cycle starts with one invoice: next month’s seats and add-ons plus last month’s usage above the included credit.
  • Usage above the credit is billed on demand. There is a default on-demand budget of $200 with email, in-app and SMS alerts as you approach it. If usage grows fast, Vercel can issue a partial invoice mid-cycle and charge it early.
  • Paid v0 plans are billed to a card in the same way.
  • Marketplace integrations such as a Neon Postgres database are billed by usage on a separate invoice. On a card statement they show up as a different merchant, for example "VERCEL MKT NEON", and are charged separately from the Pro seat.
  • Vercel accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Discover and UnionPay. It does not take PayPal.

Why Vercel declines a card

  1. The issuing bank refuses the charge. Many local cards block foreign online USD payments, and Vercel only shows a generic failure.
  2. The card type is not accepted. Vercel’s docs say gift cards, prepaid cards, EBT cards and some virtual cards cannot be used, and Vercel does not publish which ones. Some are refused at the verification step.
  3. The billing address or postal code does not match what the issuer has on file.
  4. The balance is lower than the invoice. On a prepaid card this is the most common case: a Marketplace or usage invoice can be several times the $20 seat.
  5. Repeated retries. After several failures in a short time, Vercel’s payment risk checks or the issuer may block the card for a while, and every retry makes it worse.
  6. Renewals on a closed card. The team keeps billing the saved card; if it has been closed, every invoice fails until you change the payment method.

What overdue means

When an invoice cannot be collected, the team becomes overdue. Right away you cannot create projects, add members or redeploy existing projects, but live sites keep serving for now. A renewal invoice must be paid within 14 days or all deployments on the account are paused; for a brand-new subscription the first payment has to succeed within 24 hours. Vercel does not extend these dates. The fix is to pay the open invoice with a card that works, or top up the saved card and retry the payment once.

Fix it in this order

  1. Open Settings → Billing for the right team (payment methods belong to the team) and find which invoice failed: Pro seats, usage, a partial invoice or a Marketplace bill.
  2. Make sure the card balance covers that invoice, plus about $1 if your card charges per transaction.
  3. Check the card number, expiry, CVV and billing address against what the issuer gave you.
  4. Look at Usage for the current cycle. If usage is growing, lower the on-demand budget or pause the heavy project so the next invoice stays within the balance.
  5. To switch cards, add the new card first; Vercel only lets you remove the old one after another is saved. A small temporary authorization may appear and is reversed.
  6. Pay the open invoice once and confirm the team is no longer overdue. If it fails twice, stop and try a different card or contact the issuer instead of retrying.

Does a prepaid virtual card work on Vercel? Our own data

Vercel’s docs warn that prepaid and some virtual cards may be refused, so we checked Vercel charges on our own cards. Between June and October 2026, 2 Pink Cards paid Vercel 14 times, $711.85 in total: Pro and usage invoices from "VERCEL INC." and "VERCEL" ($9.50 to $54.99), and Neon database invoices from "VERCEL MKT NEON" ($9.75 to $234.87). There were 4 declines. Three were because the card balance was lower than the invoice ($9.75, $50.90 and $234.87, the last two Neon bills), and each of those invoices was paid in full later: twice on the same card 1 to 3 days after a top-up, once on a second card the customer switched to. The fourth decline was a retry on the first card after it had been closed, 20 minutes before the invoice went through on the new card. We saw no decline on an active card with enough balance. Two cards is a small sample, so we cannot promise every card or every invoice will pass; add the card and watch the first invoice before relying on it.

Marketplace bills are the ones that catch prepaid users out. In our data the Neon invoices were larger than the Pro seat, and all three balance-related declines were on usage-sized invoices. Check the estimated invoice on the Billing page a few days before the cycle ends and top up if needed.

Pay Vercel with a prepaid virtual card (USDT or USDC)

  1. Open pinkcard.cc/en and choose an amount: presets start at $110 ($110, $220, $500, $1000), or enter a custom amount from $100.
  2. Pay with USDT on BEP-20 (shown as BSC or BNB Smart Chain on most exchanges; network fee usually under $1) or ERC-20, or with USDC on ERC-20. Send exactly the amount shown, on exactly the network you picked.
  3. Enter your email twice. No account and no sign-up are needed.
  4. The card number, expiry, CVV and billing address arrive by email about 1–2 minutes after the payment confirms (check spam).
  5. In Vercel, switch to the team you pay for, open Settings → Billing → Payment Method, add the card with the billing address from the email and submit once.
  6. Before each billing cycle, make sure the balance covers the expected invoice. Top up the same card when it runs low; the number does not change, so Vercel keeps billing it. Top-ups usually reach the card within about 30 minutes of payment.

How much to load (worked examples)

  • One Pro seat within the included usage: $20 + $1 per transaction + $2.50 monthly card fee = $23.50 a month, so a $110 card covers about 4 months.
  • Pro seat plus a $50 Neon bill: two separate charges, $20 + $1 and $50 + $1, plus $2.50 = $74.50 that month. Plan for the larger total if you run a Marketplace database.
  • Paying for a $110 card: ($110 + $10) × 1.03 = $123.60. A $220 card: ($220 + $10) × 1.03 = $236.90.
  • Topping up $100 later: $5 + ($100 + $5) × 5% = $10.25 in fees, $110.25 in total.

Pink Card fees (as of 2026-10-14)

  • Card issuance: $10 one-time, plus a 3% service fee on (card amount + $10).
  • From the card balance after activation: $1 per transaction and $2.50 per month. Vercel’s Pro invoice, partial invoices and Marketplace invoices are separate charges, so a month can have more than one $1 fee.
  • Failed authorizations are charged $1 too (at most 3 failed charges per card per month), so do not retry a decline repeatedly.
  • Top-up of the same card: $5 plus 5% of (top-up amount + $5), usually on the card within about 30 minutes. Full fee table: pinkcard.cc/en/fees.
  • Once the card details are emailed, the order cannot be cancelled, so double-check your email address before paying.
Before you stop using a card, switch Vercel to another payment method or downgrade to Hobby, so invoices do not keep hitting a closed card. The same card can pay Cursor, OpenAI or Anthropic API credits and OpenRouter as long as the balance covers them.

FAQ

Why does Vercel say my payment failed?

Usually the issuing bank refused a foreign USD charge, the card type is not accepted, the billing address does not match, or the balance is lower than the invoice. Check which invoice failed in Settings → Billing, fix the balance or details, and pay it once.

What happens if my Vercel invoice is overdue?

You immediately lose the ability to create projects, add members and redeploy, but live sites keep running. If a renewal invoice is not paid within 14 days, all deployments on the account are paused. A new subscription’s first payment must succeed within 24 hours.

What is the VERCEL MKT NEON charge on my card?

It is a usage invoice for a Neon database installed from the Vercel Marketplace. It is charged separately from the Pro seat and can be larger. Remove or downgrade the database in your Vercel dashboard if you no longer need it.

Can I pay Vercel with USDT or crypto?

Not directly; Vercel only takes cards. You can buy a prepaid virtual card with USDT (BEP-20 or ERC-20) or USDC (ERC-20) at pinkcard.cc and add it under Settings → Billing → Payment Method.

Does Vercel accept prepaid virtual cards?

Vercel’s docs say prepaid and some virtual cards may be refused. On our own cards, 2 Pink Cards paid 14 Vercel invoices between June and October 2026; the declines were balance-related or on a closed card. It is not guaranteed for every card, so watch the first invoice.
