Short answer: Grok's paid plans are now The X Subscription, one subscription that covers Grok, Cursor and X: Plus at $8, Premium at $30, Super at $100 and Ultra at $200 a month, before tax. On grok.com, Premium, Super and Ultra are currently 50% off for the first month ($15, $50 and $100), and the second month is charged at full price. Old SuperGrok and X Premium subscriptions can stay as they are. On a prepaid card, almost every Grok decline we saw was the balance: a $10 card cannot pay a $15 first month, and a card that paid the discounted first month is often short when the full-price renewal comes.
Written by the Pink Card team (pinkcard.cc). Plans and prices come from grok.com/plans and cursor.com/pricing, opened on 2026-10-22; what happens to existing subscribers is from TechCrunch's report of October 13, 2026. Charge data comes from our own cards: grok.com charges (merchant GROK XAI PALO ALTO) from 2026-10-13 to 2026-10-23 03:18 UTC. Fees are the live settings on 2026-10-22. Pink Card is not affiliated with xAI, X or Cursor.
What The X Subscription costs
- Free: $0, limited chat and agent use, no access to the latest Grok models.
- Plus: $8 a month or $80 a year. Grok chat, voice, Imagine, Build and the Grok API, Cursor with Grok models only, and on X a checkmark and fewer timeline ads.
- Premium: $30 a month or $300 a year, marked "Most popular". 4x Plus usage, the latest Grok models, Grok Bot, and ad-free on most of X. Currently "50% off for 1 month, then $30 monthly", so the first charge is $15.
- Super: $100 a month or $1,000 a year. 15x Plus usage, 1080p video and priority access at peak times. First month currently $50.
- Ultra: $200 a month or $2,000 a year. 50x Plus usage, the most powerful chat models and earliest access to new features. First month currently $100.
- grok.com: "Prices shown do not include applicable taxes or fees", so tax for your billing address can be added at checkout. Third-party models in Cursor (Claude, GPT, Gemini) are not included and are paid separately.
- Annual billing works out to about 10 months of the monthly price. The first-month discount is the current offer on the plans page; the amount on the checkout page is what will be charged.
Old SuperGrok or X Premium plan: do you need to switch?
- No. According to TechCrunch, existing subscribers can keep their current plan or upgrade from the subscription settings on X. Upgrades are rolling out in batches, so if you do not see the option yet, it has not reached your account.
- One subscription, one usage pool: the plan covers Grok, Cursor and X, and usage is shared between Grok and Cursor.
- Manage it where you bought it. grok.com: "Manage your subscription through the platform you subscribed on." A web subscription is changed or cancelled in your grok.com account; an in-app purchase in the App Store or Google Play.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge.
- The web plan and an in-app plan are separate subscriptions. Do not buy both, or you will be charged twice.
Grok charges on our cards since October 13
- From 2026-10-13 to 2026-10-23 03:18 UTC (about 10 days), grok.com charges succeeded 27 times on 23 cards. In the 41 days before (September 2 to October 12) it was 9 charges on 6 cards.
- Most common amounts: $15.00 (8 charges), which matches the Premium first month, and $8.00 (6 charges), which matches Plus. $15.59 and $15.90 (2) look like the same $15 with tax. There were also $10 (2), $25, $50, $54.25, $69.09, $86.94 and $122.49. We only see the amount, not which plan or billing event it was.
- Declined: 10 grok.com charges on 4 cards.
- A card holding $10 tried six times in about three minutes ($18 twice, then $15 four times). All six came back "The value is greater than the maximum single transaction value": the card simply did not have $15. Three of those failures were charged $1 each (the monthly cap), leaving $7 on the card.
- A card that paid the $15 first month was then asked for $20 the same day and declined ("You have exceeded the monthly transaction amount limit"). Four days later the owner topped up $110; it landed at 02:56:38 UTC, and Grok charges of $86.94 and $25.00 went through 4 and 9 minutes later.
- A card that paid $31.82 for a $30 plan in September (the $30 price plus tax) was declined twice for the October renewal ($31.83 and $31.82, "You have exceeded the cumulative amount limit for this card"): there was not a month's worth left on the card.
- One decline was "Card expiry check failed": the expiry date was typed wrong at checkout.
Why a Grok payment gets declined
- "The value is greater than the maximum single transaction value": the charge is bigger than what is on the card right now, for example $15 against $10, or a top-up that has not landed yet. 6 of our 10 declines.
- "You have exceeded the cumulative amount limit for this card": the card has already spent what was loaded on it, usually on a renewal. 2 declines.
- "You have exceeded the monthly transaction amount limit": the month's spending on the card is already used up. 1 decline; the same card paid fine after a top-up.
- "Card expiry check failed": wrong expiry date entered. Copy the expiry exactly from the email (MM/YY). 1 decline.
- Tax on top of the list price: Premium at $30 can come through as $31.82 or more, depending on your billing address.
- Problems that are not about money: billing address not matching the card, or switching network exit regions and cards several times in a few minutes, which can trigger risk checks on grok.com. Keep one stable network exit region consistent with the billing country, and submit once.
Retrying does not help when the balance is short: the result is the same, and each failed attempt costs $1 (at most 3 failed charges per card per month). Check the reason in the transaction history, top up, wait until the top-up shows on the card, then retry once.
Which plan, and how much to keep on the card
- Each month: the checkout amount + $1 per-transaction fee, plus the $2.50 monthly card fee.
- Plus: $8 + $1 = $9 a month without tax; $8.80 + $1 + $2.50 = $12.30 at 10% tax.
- Premium, first month: $15 + tax + $1, so keep $16–$17.50 plus the $2.50 card fee. From month two: $30 + $1 + $2.50 = $33.50 without tax, $36.50 at 10% tax.
- Super: $103.50 a month without tax, $113.50 at 10% tax (from month two). Ultra: $203.50 without tax, $223.50 at 10% tax.
- Annual: the whole year is charged at once, for example $300 + tax for Premium, so load "annual price with tax + $1" first. The card issuer caps a single charge at $2,000, and Ultra annual is $2,000 before tax, so with tax it is declined however much is on the card; pay Ultra monthly instead.
- Upgrades, downgrades and Cursor usage outside the plan are separate charges, and each one needs the balance to cover it.
Pay for Grok with a prepaid virtual card (USDT or USDC)
- Open pinkcard.cc/en and choose an amount: presets start at $110, or enter a custom amount from $100.
- Pay with USDT on BEP-20 (BSC) or ERC-20, or with USDC on ERC-20 only. Send exactly the amount shown, on exactly the network you picked.
- The card number, expiry, CVV and billing address are emailed about 1–2 minutes after the payment confirms (check spam).
- On grok.com/plans, pick the plan and monthly or annual, enter the card and the billing address from the email, check the final amount with tax, and submit once.
- Before the full-price month, top up the same card. The number does not change, so the renewal keeps billing it without re-entering the card.
Top up the same card before month two
- Open pinkcard.cc/en, click "Balance & Top Up" at the top, and enter the 16-digit card number and the 3-digit lookup code.
- Choose an amount (minimum $30) and pick USDT or USDC.
- The top-up usually reaches the card within about 10 minutes of payment (30 at most). Wait until it shows on the card before you retry a declined charge.
- Top-up cost: $5 plus 5% of (top-up amount + $5). $40 for a month of Premium is $47.25; $120 for a month of Super is $131.25; $230 for a month of Ultra is $246.75.

Pink Card fees (as of 2026-10-22)
- Card issuance: $10 one-time, plus a 3% service fee on (card amount + $10). Presets start at $110; custom amounts from $100. A $110 card costs (110 + 10) × 1.03 = $123.60.
- A $110 card covers about three months of Premium at 10% tax: $20 for the first month ($16.50 + $1 + $2.50), then $36.50 a month.
- From the card balance after activation: $1 per transaction and $2.50 per month. Failed authorizations are charged $1 too (at most 3 failed charges per card per month).
- Top-up of the same card: $5 plus 5% of (top-up amount + $5), minimum $30. Full fee table: pinkcard.cc/en/fees.
- Pay for a new card or a top-up with USDT (BEP-20 or ERC-20) or USDC (ERC-20).
