Claude Team Payment Declined? Standard $25 / Premium $125 per Seat, Why a $250 Team Charge Failed 6 Times on Our Card, and Paying Claude Team with a Prepaid Virtual Card (USDT / USDC) — 2026

Claude Team payment declined or card not accepted? How Claude Team bills (Standard seat $25 a month or $20 billed annually, Premium seat $125 or $100 billed annually, 2 to 150 members, tax not included, one card charged for seats × price + tax), Anthropic’s own statement that credit, debit and prepaid cards are accepted, prorated charges when you add members, why a $250 Team charge was declined six times in one minute on our card, and how to pay Claude Team from USDT or USDC with a prepaid virtual card. Updated October 2026.

Claude Team payment declined, short answer: Claude Team is billed per seat. A Standard seat is $25 per member per month ($20 billed annually) and a Premium seat, with 5x the usage of Standard, is $125 per month ($100 billed annually), for teams of 2 to 150. Prices exclude tax. An Owner pays with one card in Organization settings → Billing, and the card is charged one lump sum of seats × price plus tax at the start of each cycle, so a small team quickly reaches $100–$300 a charge. Anthropic’s Team billing FAQ says credit, debit and prepaid cards are accepted (no ACH or bank transfer). A Team charge usually fails because the card does not hold the full total at that moment, the bank refuses foreign USD charges, an annual plan is bigger than the card’s single-charge limit, or the card was retried too many times. If your local card does not work, a prepaid virtual card bought with USDT or USDC, such as Pink Card from pinkcard.cc, can be added as the Team payment method.

Written by the Pink Card team (pinkcard.cc). Prices are taken from claude.com/pricing and the Claude Help Center articles “Team plan billing FAQs” and “Purchase and manage seats on Team plans”, checked on 2026-10-23. Plans and prices change, so the checkout is the source of truth. Charge data comes from our own cards (all ANTHROPIC* TEAM and ANTHROPIC* CLAUDE TEAM charges up to 2026-10-23 21:30 UTC). Pink Card fees are those shown on the purchase page on 2026-10-23. Pink Card is not affiliated with Anthropic.

How Claude Team charges

  • Standard seat: $25 per member per month billed monthly, $20 per month billed annually. More usage than Pro, plus Claude Code, central billing, SSO and admin controls.
  • Premium seat: $125 per member per month billed monthly, $100 per month billed annually, with 5x the usage of a Standard seat. You can mix Standard and Premium seats.
  • Team size: 2 to 150 members. Above that, or for usage-based billing, Enterprise is $20 per seat per month billed annually (20-seat minimum) plus usage at API rates.
  • Tax: “Prices shown don’t include applicable tax.” Tax depends on the billing address, so the checkout total is higher than seats × price.
  • When you are charged: at the beginning of each billing cycle, for the members on the team at that moment. Adding members or upgrading a Standard seat to Premium mid-cycle is charged as a prorated amount immediately.
  • Removing members gives no credit or refund; reducing the seat count or moving Premium to Standard takes effect at the next renewal.
  • Annual billing is one upfront charge for the year. Switching from monthly to annual credits the unused time toward the first annual invoice.
  • Upgrading your own Pro or Max to Team in place cancels the individual plan and refunds the unused part about 24 hours after the Team payment goes through (unless you tick “Keep your personal account separate”).

How big is one charge? Common team sizes

  • 2 Standard, monthly: 2 × $25 = $50 before tax.
  • 5 Standard, monthly: 5 × $25 = $125; at a 10% tax rate, $137.50.
  • 2 Premium, monthly: 2 × $125 = $250 before tax, the amount in our declined example below.
  • 5 Standard, annual: 5 × $20 × 12 = $1,200 before tax, in one charge.
  • 10 Standard, annual: $2,400 before tax. That is above Pink Card’s $2,000 single-charge cap, so pick monthly billing or split the team.

What we saw on our cards: a $250 Team charge declined 6 times

On 2026-10-13 (UTC) a newly issued $220 Pink Card was topped up with $100 at 08:56. About three minutes later the card was used for a Claude Team charge of $250 (merchant ANTHROPIC* TEAM T1 SAN FRANCISCO) and retried six times within one minute, from 08:59:35 to 09:00:34. All six were declined with “Card-The value is greater than the maximum single transaction value.” The top-up had been paid but had not yet reached the card, so the card only had $220 available. It landed at 09:01:25, less than a minute after the last decline, leaving $320 on the card, but the Team charge was not retried that day. The next day a $150 Claude Team authorization (ANTHROPIC* CLAUDE TEAM) appeared on the same card and was then reversed, returning the money.

Two lessons. First, a paid top-up is not money on the card until it lands; wait for it, then submit once. Second, rapid retries do not help and every failed authorization costs $1 on Pink Card (at most 3 per card per month). Across all merchants, 44 of the 164 declines on our cards in the last 14 days (12 cards) carried the same “maximum single transaction value” message. Our Claude Team sample is small: one card, six declines and one reversed authorization, so we cannot promise every Team charge will pass.

Fix a declined Claude Team payment in this order

  1. Stop clicking. Open Organization settings → Billing and note the exact total, including tax and any prorated amount for new members.
  2. Make sure the card holds that total plus about $1 if your prepaid card charges per transaction. If you just topped up, wait until the top-up shows on the card.
  3. Check the card number, expiry, CVV and billing address exactly as the issuer has it. The billing country decides the tax.
  4. If the total is above the card’s single-charge limit (for example an annual plan for many seats), switch to monthly billing or reduce seats.
  5. Submit once. If the same card fails two or three times, wait a few hours before trying again.

Pay Claude Team with a prepaid virtual card (USDT or USDC)

  1. Open pinkcard.cc/en and choose an amount: presets start at $110 ($110, $220, $500, $1000), or enter a custom amount from $100.
  2. Pay with USDT on BEP-20 (shown as BSC or BNB Smart Chain on most exchanges; network fee usually under $1) or ERC-20, or with USDC on ERC-20. Send exactly the amount shown, on exactly the network you picked.
  3. Enter your email twice. No account and no sign-up are needed.
  4. The card number, expiry, CVV and billing address arrive by email about 1–2 minutes after the payment confirms (check spam).
  5. The Owner opens claude.ai → Organization settings → Billing, adds the card with the billing address from the email, checks the total and submits once. Members then join by invite and do not need their own cards.
  6. Before each renewal, top up the same card and wait for it to land. The number does not change, so Claude keeps charging it. Top-ups usually reach the card within about 10 minutes of payment (30 at most).

How much to load (worked examples)

  • 5 Standard monthly at 10% tax: $137.50 + $1 per transaction + $2.50 monthly card fee = $141 per month. The $220 preset covers the first month; top up before the second.
  • 2 Premium monthly at 10% tax: $275 + $1 + $2.50 = $278.50 per month. Use the $500 preset ($525.30 to buy) or a custom $300 card, which costs ($300 + $10) × 1.03 = $319.30.
  • 5 Standard annual at 10% tax: $1,320 + $1 = $1,321 in one charge, under the $2,000 cap; a custom $1,350 card costs ($1,350 + $10) × 1.03 = $1,400.80.
  • Paying for a $220 card: ($220 + $10) × 1.03 = $236.90.
  • Topping up $150 later: $5 + ($150 + $5) × 5% = $12.75 in fees, $162.75 in total. Topping up $300: $20.25 in fees, $320.25 in total.

Pink Card fees (as of 2026-10-23)

  • Card issuance: $10 one-time, plus a 3% service fee on (card amount + $10).
  • From the card balance after activation: $1 per transaction and $2.50 per month.
  • Failed authorizations are charged $1 too (at most 3 failed charges per card per month), so keep the balance above the next renewal.
  • Top-up of the same card: $5 plus 5% of (top-up amount + $5), minimum top-up $30, usually on the card within about 10 minutes (30 at most). Full fee table: pinkcard.cc/en/fees.
  • Single charge cap: $2,000 per transaction.
  • Once the card details are emailed, the order cannot be cancelled, so double-check your email address before paying.

FAQ

How much is Claude Team?

Per claude.com/pricing on 2026-10-23: Standard seat $25 per member per month ($20 billed annually), Premium seat $125 per month ($100 billed annually), for 2 to 150 members. Prices exclude tax.

Does Claude Team accept prepaid cards?

Yes. Anthropic’s Team plan billing FAQ says accepted payment methods are credit, debit or prepaid cards; ACH bank transfers are not accepted.

Why was my Claude Team payment declined with “maximum single transaction value”?

The charge was larger than what the card had available at that moment. On our card a $250 Team charge failed six times because a $100 top-up had been paid but had not landed yet. Wait for the top-up to reach the card, then submit once.

When does Claude Team charge my card?

At the start of each billing cycle, for the members on the team at that time. Adding members or upgrading a seat to Premium mid-cycle is charged as a prorated amount immediately. Removing members does not give a refund.

Can I pay Claude Team with USDT or crypto?

Not directly. You can buy a prepaid virtual card with USDT (BEP-20 or ERC-20) or USDC (ERC-20) at pinkcard.cc and add it as the Team payment method.
